Real Traveler – Eric

Eric Gosselin, PT, ATC/L, CSCS received his B.S. in Sports Medicine with track in athletic training from the University of Central Florida in 2002. He stayed at the University to earn his M.S. in Physical Therapy graduating in 2005.

After graduation, Eric initially stayed in Florida to work in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital for experience. A year later, he went on to his first travel position in a home health setting much farther north in Boston, Massachusetts. He lived there with two fellow PT travelers, one that he knew from PT school, and another that he had met through American Physical Therapy Association conferences. Eric lived just a few blocks from historic Fenway Park and enjoyed all the perks of living close to heavily public transportation dependent city. From Massachusetts, Eric headed even further North to take a position in an outpatient setting in Bar Harbor, Maine. He enjoyed exploring Acadia National Park and finding out all of the great things to do in this touristy coastal town during the summer. Eric was making frequent trips South to Portland for its social scene to have some tattoo work done in this small, trendy city. Eric moved closer to Portland practicing in varied settings and also returned home to Florida for an assignment before ultimately returning to and setting roots in Maine.

From Eric’s perspective, a definite pro of working as a travel physical therapist is the flexibility that allowed Eric to visit Costa Rica; Montreal, Canada; Aspen, CO; San Francisco, CA; among many other destinations and adventures. He was able to further himself professionally and personally through these experiences which prepared him for his future in the PT profession.

Now, Eric is living in Portland and manages multiple clinics for one of the country’s largest rehab groups, an opportunity that he had because of his previous assignment with that company. Eric’s previous experiences with multiple PT jobs help him to diversify his management and education skills, which hopefully open his employee’s eyes to see ‘out of the box’ and to provide a more whole patient approach with their patients.

Personally, Eric has married Kate, a dietician that he reconnected with since his previous assignments in Portland!  They have two dogs, Aiden and Gracie, and enjoy spending time outdoors. In his free time, Eric enjoys getting to the outdoors to boat, camp, or bow hunt.
